Virginia Constantine@Under Solo, Camden town, London, UK

Virginia Constantine (Old-skool soul/jazz): Born in Paris, Virginia comes from a family of professional musicians. Her father was a popular singer/songwriter, who had a passion for Jazz and at the height of his career shared the bill with Louis Armstrong at the famous Olympia music Hall in Paris. Mum was a singer/actress who sang at the New York Sands Hotel and was offered a 7-year contract with MGM. Virginia started studying classical piano at the age of 7, but at 16 opted for a singing career and began performing in the Paris Jazz club circuit. A couple of years later, she got her first contract as a backing vocalist, touring Europe and appearing on television alongside top French & International artists. She also sang for commercials, cartoons and movie soundtracks. While on tour, she bumped into a talented British songwriter/arranger, Brendan Walsh and as they both shared similar musical influences and aspirations, they decided to form a partnership and move to London at the end of the year 2000. Since then, she's been sharing her time between London and Paris while collaborating with various songwriters/producers. (Check out "myspace.com/virtualjazzband" to listen to "Strange Divine", the track she co-wrote with Wayne Brown). Original material aside, Virginia has recorded a Jazz album entitled "The Bumpy Road to Love", featuring some of the best musicians in the UK such as Jazz guitarist Jim Mullen and saxophonist Gary Barnacle, who's played for Phil Collins, the Brand New Heavies and Jamiroquai amongst others. ( "You don't know what love is" is one of the tracks on the album) The Virginia Constantine's website is currently under construction and should be running by the end of September 2006.
